A Virginia native, Heather recently returned to the Northern Virginia area after enjoying a successful trial practice in Maine involving both civil litigation and criminal defense. Heather has extensive experience defending clients in significant criminal matters, including murder and other violent crimes, felony drug cases, and motor vehicle offenses such as DWI. In addition, Heather represented clients charged with federal crimes in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine and will continue her federal defense practice in Virginia. Heather also has a diverse civil litigation background with experience in both federal and state forums. She handles complex commercial litigation, as well as elder abuse and exploitation, professional liability, product liability, discrimination and domestic rel-ations matters. Heather has appeared in court for hundreds of hearings, as well as bench trials, jury trials and appeals.

Ms. Gonzales graduated cum laude from George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia. During law school, Ms. Gonzales was awarded the George Mason Law School Fellowship, the GMUSL Alumni Scholarship Award for her contributions to the law school, and the Public Interest Summer Fellowship Award for her dedication to providing legal services to low-income individuals. She was a member of the Moot Court Board and President of the Association for Public Interest Law.
